If we met at a party you would probably ask me what I do.
That's how we begin isn't it?
I'm a freelance writer and trainer.
I'm lots of other things too ... but more on that later.
I have a special interest in psychology and mental health. Much of the work I do is related to these interests and after many years I'm still fascinated by them.
So I guess I'm fortunate.
So - what's with the blog?
Lots of reasons... and here are a few:
- Being interested in good mental health means understanding the need for balance. We live complex lives and somehow we need to get the balance right. Like everyone else I still struggle to achieve that balance, so a commentary on the process might ring some bells with any readers out there. If it does, add your comments. Who knows we might come up with something unique between us.
- People often ask me what it's like to be a writer so I reckoned some thoughts on the ups and downs of the job might interest the many people who wish they were writers too
- Many people assume that the connection between psychology and mental health must mean that I'm a clinical psychologist. I'm not. My discipline is social psychology which means that I'm interested in relationships between individuals and groups. I'm a people watcher. I'm planning to share some of my choice people watching nuggets on here. Watch out, you might even think you recognise yourself, although I'll try to disguise the facts to protect the innocent.
